Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman Overview of Complaints 2023.

The FSPO received 6,182 complaints in total in 2023. This is an increase of 29% from 2022.

The FSPO closed 5,184 complaints in 2023. This is an increase of 12% from 2022. 85% of complaints closed were closed within 12 months.

2,049 complaints were closed through our Dispute Resolution Service and the value to the complainant of this service was €2,943,493.

Complaints received by sector:

  • The FSPO received 3,850 banking complaints, which accounted for 62% of all the complaints received.
  • The FSPO received 1,446 insurance complaints, which accounted for 23% of all the complaints received.
  • The FSPO received 461 investment complaints, which accounted for 7% of all the complaints received.
  • The FSPO received 336 pension scheme complaints, which accounted for 5% of all the complaints received.
